An impromptu post. Fun facts about lipstick!

In the 1700s, it was believed that women wore lipstick to bewitch men and trick them into marriage.

In Kansas in 1915 wearing lipstick could get you arrested for “creating a false impression.” Like a super-awesome ineffective disguise!

In 1930, Elizabeth Arden proclaimed that women who wore lipstick were more employable than their bare-faced counterparts. Needless to say, beauty sales skyrocketed. She also advocated that women wear red lipstick during their women's suffrage marches, thus a bold statement was born. RED LIPS ROCK!

According to a study by Manchester University, men prefer women with luscious red lips over any other hue. Following in second place was Pink

 Cleopatra favored lip color made from henna for its long-lasting, smudge proof effects, which makes the last pharaoh of Egypt the first lip stain addict

Apparently; Clinique sells one lipstick every second. Fact or not, I really enjoy the sound of that.

More lipstick is sold on cold and rainy days then any other

Elizabeth Taylor became known for her sultry roles and glossy red lips. It’s been said that on certain movie sets, Ms. Taylor banned the other actresses from wearing the same color. No one comes between a diva and her makeup!

Marilyn Monroe was known for mixing 3-5 shades of red lipstick to create her famous look.

A fun fact for those who wear lipstick!

July 29th is national lipstick day. Embrace your womanhood that day and rock a color you would never normally wear! You have several months to pick one out hehe.

This is an awesome woman and an awesome blog! My 50's Year!

This woman took a chance and did a crazy thing. She decided she was going to live a whole year 50's style. I mean no tv, no microwave,cooking, cleaning, dressing the part etc. The only thing she did was use her computer to report about it on her blog. I would not be able to do it but I understand why she did. Read it, all of it, enjoy and appreciate that women are fabulous people who are taking over the world one decade at a time!
